I would love to hear from authors and publishers who would like to have
their books reviewed. I accept physical books (print ARCs and published
books) but no ebooks at the moment.
What genre do I accept?
I currently accept Young Adult books.
Within Young Adult I accept the following genres:
- contemporary
- fantasy
- romance
- science-fiction
- historical fiction
- mythology inspired
- paranormal/supernatural
I currently do not accept:
- non-fiction
- crime
- memoirs/biographies
- poetry
- short stories (unless they are part of a major series - such as Sarah J. Maas's 'The Assassin's Blade' in the 'Throne of Glass' series
- self-help books (f ex. economy, business etc)
What happens if I accept your book?
If you have asked me to review a copy of your book and I have accepted I
will do my best to read, finish and review the book within1-2 months
time of receiving the book. If you wish to be on the safe side I prefer
to receive the book 2-4 months in advance of the requested publishing
date of the review. I do not guarantee both a written and a video
review however one of the two is guaranteed for a book I have accepted
to review.
What happens when I receive books that I have not formally accepted?
If I receive more books than agreed or random books I do not guarantee
that I will read them. I may find them intriguing and read them and will
in that case most likely review them. However, books on my TBR and
books that I have accepted are priority.
How do I review?
All my reviews include the following:
- Plot summary (most often taken from the back of the book)
- My thoughts and feelings of the plot. This will most often include my critique on:
- Plot
- The genre
- Characters
- Writing style
- My favourite quote (not always)
- My rating (from 1-10)
- Book cover (often of different editions)
My reviews are honest. This does not necessarily mean good or bad but
how I honestly felt about the book. I do explain why I feel the ways I
do however so no book will simply be stamped as 'good' or 'bad'.
My reviews are casual and more of a discussion. They are not
professional critical or analytical essays but rather my opinion and
feelings on the book.
How do I rate?
I aim to be as accurate and precise with my rating. My rating is from 1
to 10 stars. My rating is the same on my blog as it is on other pages
such as Amazon.com or Goodreads.com. However, as these websites tend to
rate from 1 to 5 the following applies.
1/10 (0.5/5) - I truly did not enjoy this book and I didn't finish it.
2/10 (1/5) - I didn't finish this book and didn't like it
3/10 (1.5/5) - I did not enjoy this book but may have pushed myself through it
4/10 (2/5) - an okay book but nothing I would recommend
5/10 (2.5/5) - a good book but in no way special
6/10 (3/5) - may have had issues with the book but generally good
7/10 (3.5/5) - a really good book, very enjoyable
8/10 (4/5) - absolutely loved this book
9/10 (4.5/5) - this is very very close to perfect
10/10 (5/5) - I absolutely could not put this book down and I may regard it as one of my many favourite books/series
I am very careful with the books I choose and the way I rate them. I am
not by any means stating that this is what everyone thinks of the book,
but merely my opinion. Other readers and reviewers may think otherwise
and have their own opinion. In order to avoid disappointment I only
accept books from the genres stated above.

I review on my blog The Sasanach's Library and all my reviews can be found here in my index. Most reviews can
